Best Picture Nominees of 1946

5 Films on screen

The Academy Award nominees for Best Picture for 1946 are a diverse selection of Hollywood’s best work at the peak of its production. The films include a stirring family drama, a big-budget Shakespearean spectacle, a self-reflexive W. Somerset Maugham adaptation, a moving reflection on the aftermath of World War II on the homefront, and the most beloved holiday film of all time. In celebration of the diamond anniversary of these films, the Dryden Theatre will be screening all five of these features in December. Come see all of them and make your own decision about which film is the best of the bunch 75 years later.
