Events for Wednesday, July 28, 2021
For over five years, photographer Jess T. Dugan and social worker Vanessa Fabbre traveled throughout the United States documenting the life stories of transgender and gender nonconforming older adults, individuals whose experiences exist within the complex intersections of gender identity, age, race, ethnicity, sexuality, socioeconomic class, and geographic location.
Bea Nettles explores the narrative potential of photography through constructed images often made with alternative photographic processes. This exhibition originally opened on January 31, 2020, but just six weeks later, the museum had to close due to COVID-19 and a virtual version was offered online. Now, the Eastman Museum is pleased to bring the exhibition back to our galleries for visitors to explore in person.
FREE SCREENING | In Solidarity: Spotlighting Black Film Artists Presented in a gorgeous sepia-toned print, this film follows Petunia Jackson (Ethel Waters) as she tries to convince her husband, Joe (Eddie “Rochester” Anderson), to stop gambling and lead a good life.
