Events for Friday, September 10, 2021
Bea Nettles explores the narrative potential of photography through constructed images often made with alternative photographic processes. This exhibition originally opened on January 31, 2020, but just six weeks later, the museum had to close due to COVID-19 and a virtual version was offered online. Now, the Eastman Museum is pleased to bring the exhibition back to our galleries for visitors to explore in person.
For over five years, photographer Jess T. Dugan and social worker Vanessa Fabbre traveled throughout the United States documenting the life stories of transgender and gender nonconforming older adults, individuals whose experiences exist within the complex intersections of gender identity, age, race, ethnicity, sexuality, socioeconomic class, and geographic location.
In Focus: In this behind-the-scenes virtual presentation, Film Project Specialists Erica Jones and Lydia Creech discuss their work preserving the museum's South Asian film collection and give a tour of the film vault at Kodak 350 where the films are stored.
