(Frank Capra, US 1946, 130 min., 35mm)
Capra | Holidays. In one of the most inspirational films of all time, James Stewart and Donna Reed find their way through rough times in Bedford Falls (modeled after nearby Seneca Falls, New York) by way of a loving, dedicated relationship and a little heavenly intervention. As Stewart’s and Capra’s first work after their military service, the film takes the postwar malaise often seen in film noir and turns it on its head, constructing a narrative of faith and perseverance.
Presented in partnership with the It’s a Wonderful Life Museum in Seneca Falls, New York.
Also showing: Wednesday, December 6, 7 p.m.
Note: Special guests will be present at December 6 screening only. December 10 screening is regular Dryden pricing.
