(Alfred Hitchcock, US 1956, 120 min., 35mm)
Hitchcock's only remake is a taut, glossy, suspense classic with standout performances by Hitchcock veteran James Stewart and a plucky Doris Day. In Morocco, Stewart and Day witness the mysterious death of a stranger who reveals information regarding an upcoming assassination. When their son is kidnapped, the couple is embroiled in a globetrotting plot that takes them to a thrilling climax in London's Royal Albert Hall, one of Hitchcock's finest setups. This was the fourth of 11 collaborations between Hitchcock and costume designer Edith Head. Day sings "Que Sera, Sera" which won the Best Song Academy Award and figures prominently in the plot. Frequent Hitchcock composer Bernard Herrmann has a cameo as the orchestra conductor.
