Eastman Entertains: At the Movies 2018

In the early 20th century, George Eastman frequently entertained business colleagues, friends, and family at his grand East Avenue residence. As Rochester’s leading citizen, Eastman was accustomed to entertaining, and he ensured that each luncheon, dinner party, and event was a memorable experience for his guests. In honor of this history, the museum presents Eastman Entertains, a display of tablescapes, with the theme At the Movies (on view Tuesday, May 8–Sunday, May 20). Each of the beautiful table settings, creatively themed tabletops, and lush floral arrangements has been inspired by a popular film, such as Cleopatra, Carousel, or South Pacific. Designed by garden club members, florists, and specialty retailers, the tablescapes will be situated throughout George Eastman’s National Historic Landmark mansion. As a complement, the Dryden will screen of five of the 23 films that provided inspiration for this year’s elegant and elaborate display.
