Visitor Center Associate

 

Job Title: Visitor Center Associate – As Needed
Department: Thomas Tischer Visitor Center and Museum Shop
Reports To: Amelia Galasso, Visitor Experience Operations Manager
Working Hours: As needed, variable working hours
Pay Rate: $16.75 per hour (upcoming pay increase).  Non-exempt.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Host:

  • Engage with museum visitors.
  • Answer questions about the objects and work of the museum and assist visitors when necessary.
  • Help visitors find their way around, operate special viewing equipment, and locate objects and materials.
  • Ensure visitors do not conduct activities that are prohibited by the museum.
  • Notify maintenance staff when there is something that needs to be addressed in the museum.

Open Face Eatery:

  • Maintain exceptional product and brand knowledge.
  • Accurately and efficiently input orders using Square POS.
  • Clean and reset work surfaces, equipment, and dining areas.
  • Perform daily dishwashing.
  • Open and close the eatery.

Welcome Center & Museum Shop:

  • Provide genuine customer service.
  • Sell tickets, memberships, passes, etc. at the Welcome Center. 
  • Sell, price, stock, and straighten merchandise at the Museum Shop. 
  • Opening and closing, cash handling, and credit card transactions. 

Other duties as assigned -- provide coverage at special events as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent. 
  2. Guest service/visitor engagement skills.
  3. Desire to excel in the hospitality industry.
  4. Intentional, detail oriented, and highly organized.
  5. Self-motivated, reliable, and effective communication skills. 
  6. Standing, walking, lifting (25lbs), carrying, reaching, pushing/pulling, handling, speaking, hearing, reading, seeing, and repetitive motions.
