Events in the Water
[Philadelphia]: self-published, 1973
Edition of 100
Bound volume with offset lithographs and vinyl cover
George Eastman Museum, Richard and Ronay Menschel Library

Nettles originally assembled each of her snapshot sequences into three-ring binders or notebooks, but in 1973, she began to produce limited-edition books using the commercial printing process of offset lithography. Nettles learned how to create halftone negatives for each image and had the pages printed by a printer in Philadelphia. She then bound each copy by hand and stitched a vinyl slipcase to house each book. Light Impressions in Rochester and Light Gallery in New York City distributed the books.
