Candace Gaudiani – Photos Between Destinations

During our visiting artist lecture series Wish You Were Here, Candace Gaudiani shared her technique and inspiration behind the art of photographing via train and her book "Between Destinations". By the age of twelve, Gaudiani had visited forty-eight states by car and train. Today, her photo series explores what it means to be part of and sometimes estranged from the places we hold in our memories. The ambiguity of belonging, longing and estrangement led to the artist’s choice of framing each image through a train window.  Her moody black and white images, capturing a seemingly timeless American landscape. And in color the promise of a new and lesser seen life. All aboard!
