“Eastman Entertains” Tablescape Display at the George Eastman Museum May 3–8

One-week display on view through Mother’s Day

Rochester, N.Y., April 5, 2016— Experience the elegant atmosphere of George Eastman’s home like you’ve never seen it before. The George Eastman Museum presents Eastman Entertains, a one-week-only opportunity, Tuesday, May 3, through Sunday, May 8.

In the early 20th century, George Eastman often entertained business colleagues, friends, and family at his grand East Avenue residence. As a corporate titan and one of Rochester’s leading citizens, Eastman was accustomed to entertaining, and he ensured that each dinner, party, and event was a memorable experience for his guests.

In that spirit, Eastman Entertains will feature beautiful table settings, creatively themed tabletops, and lush floral arrangements situated throughout the National Historic Landmark estate. Designed by area florists, interior designers, and garden club members the displays will reimagine 20th-century entertaining with 21st-century flair. Among the nearly 20 displays are a fairy tale–themed birthday party, settings for Mother’s Day brunch, and a private luncheon hosted by Maria Kilbourn Eastman (George Eastman’s mother).

Eastman Entertains is presented by the Eastman Museum Council and the museum’s Landscape Committee. Admission is free to members and included with museum admission.

A special preview party is scheduled for Monday, May 2, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $30, and reservations must be made by Tuesday, April 26. For more information, call (585) 271-3361 ext. 222. Guests will enjoy wine, hors d’oeuvres, and the opportunity to see Eastman Entertains before it opens to the public.

Throughout the run of the display (May 3–8), visitors can enjoy Afternoon Tea in the Museum Café daily from 2 to 5 p.m. $6 per person, includes tea and scones, mini pastries, or cookies.
