Rochester, N.Y., May 22, 2023 —The Garden Vibes summer concert series will return to the George Eastman Museum this summer after a three-year hiatus due to construction on the mansion and in the gardens. The museum will host the outdoor concerts on June 14, July 19, and August 16 on the east lawn, located on the east side of the mansion next to the Schuyler C. Townson Terrace Garden.

Concertgoers may bring a picnic or purchase food on-site from Open Face, as well as local food trucks. All three concerts are from 6 to 8 p.m., with gates opening at 5 p.m. Tickets are $12 general admission, $10 museum members, and free to children ages 12 and under with paid adult admission. Tickets may be purchased at the door on the day of the event. No refunds; no rain dates.

Garden Vibes 2023 lineup

June 14                The GateSwingers
Kicking off the series with one of our original bands from the early days of the concert series, Rochester’s original dance band, The GateSwingers, is an exciting 15-piece band with vocalists and a master of ceremonies.  The band features dance music from the 40s, 50s, 60s, and present day.

July 19                   The Big Takeover

The Big Takeover is a seven-piece roots reggae band hailing from the Hudson Valley region of N.Y. Fronted by the charismatic Jamaican-born singer and songwriter Nee Nee Rushie, The Big Takeover plays original music that is rooted in and reverent toward the genres and rhythms of Jamaican pop: reggae, rocksteady, and ska. The Big Takeover played in front of 10,000 fans at Omaha’s Jazz on the Green festival in 2018, delivered an outrageously infectious and nuanced acoustic performance on the popular reggae-centric Sugarshack Sessions, and their current standalone single “Rainboots” has scored big with the discerning tastes at National Public Radio. The Big Takeover has appeared live in studio on several NPR stations, while “Rainboots” is in rotation on all of them.

August 16          Ichi-Bons

Hailing from Toronto, Ichi-Bons are a reckless rock ‘n’ roll revival inspired by obscure surf, garage, and Rockabilly 45. They combine the sounds of a raunchy vinyl DJ with a cranked rock ‘n’ roll band. From boppin’ garage to frantic rockabilly, from instrumental surf to desperate rock ‘n’ roll, Ichi-Bons are a stack of quarters on your favorite jukebox.

Garden Vibes is made possible by St. John's and generously sponsored by the Eastman Museum Council.
