George Eastman House to Host Two First Niagara Rochester Fringe Festival Acts on September 20

Musical performance by the Company Stores and a theatrical presentation of “Vivien Leigh: The Last Press Conference” at Dryden Theatre

Rochester, N.Y., July 16, 2016—George Eastman House will host two events on Sunday, September 20 as part of the First Niagara Rochester Fringe Festival. The Company Stores, a folk fusion band from Charleston, West Virginia, will perform at 11 a.m. (tickets $10). Vivien Leigh: The Last Press Conference, a play produced by Screen Plays Theater will be presented at 2 p.m. (tickets $15). Both performances will be held in the Dryden Theatre, 900 East Avenue. Tickets can be ordered in advance at eastmanhouse.org.

The Company Stores smoothly blends elements of southern music from various genres including Appalachian folk, Delta blues, rock, jam band, and even hip-hop. The band formed in 2012 with vocalist Casey Litz and guitarist Matthew Marks. Soon they were joined by drummer John Query, trumpet/fiddle player Joe Cevallos, and bassist Grant Jacobs. The five have been performing across the Eastern United States for almost two years, and are currently touring to promote their first album, Rollin In’. The album, produced by Don Dixon, has been described as a “musical stew,” combining many elements of music.

Vivien Leigh: The Last Press Conference, produced by Screen Plays Theater, tells the story of the valiant British theatre and film actress. Leigh garnered two Academy Awards for her portrayal of Scarlett O’Hara in Gone with the Wind and of Blanche DuBois in A Streetcar Named Desire. Leigh performed these and other great roles while battling depression and bipolar disorder, and left a great legacy on stage and screen.
