George Eastman House presents vintage jewelry trunk show Dec. 3–5; proceeds benefit museum

Premiere collection often featured in films and on celebrities

Rochester, N.Y., November 17, 2009—An exhibition and sale of vintage jewelry — including 19th-century photographic items — will highlight three days of events at George Eastman House, offering a chance to own a glamorous piece of history while supporting the museum. This benefit event —featuring the Carole Tanenbaum Vintage Collection of costume jewelry, which you’ve seen in films such as The Devil Wears Prada, Chicago, and Grey Gardens — will take place Dec. 3 through 5 and includes a preview party and lecture.

The Carole Tanenbaum Vintage Collection includes jewelry from the most notable fashion houses of the past — from simple, elegant designs to elaborate jewels to enchanting, playful pieces. Celebrities who regularly wear Tanenbaum’s pieces include Jessica Lange, Samuel L. Jackson, Elton John, Natalie Portman, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Tyra Banks.

Special Preview & Reception: 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3

Trunk Show: 1 to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 4 and 5

As a benefit for George Eastman House, 50 percent of all sales will be given to the museum. Curtis Theatre at George Eastman House. Included with museum admission.

Carole Tanenbaum Lecture & Booksigning: 2 p .m. Saturday, Dec. 5

Tanenbaum will discuss “What to Look for in Vintage Costume Jewelry.” She will then sign her book Fabulous Fakes, with copies available for sale on site. Lecture included with museum admission. Dryden Theatre at George Eastman House.
