Project Processing Archivist

Job Title: Project Processing Archivist
Department: The Richard and Ronay Menschel Library
Status: 12-16 Month Assignment, Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Salary Range: $20.66 per hour (grant funded)
 

Duties:

  • Conduct extensive research about actors, photographers, and others who have contributed to the history of photography and film.

  • Write compelling biographies about the individuals who are the focus of this oral history project.

  • Enter biographical and recording information into ArchivesSpace.

  • Upload digitized files to SoundCloud and Vimeo.

  • Collaborate with project team members to locate low or no-cost photos of actors, photographers and others to illustrate biographical information.

  • Collaborate with project team members to create public presentations for museum lecture programs.

  • Assist with writing museum blogs to share information about the project with the public and museum constituents.

Education Requirements:

Undergraduate degree required. ALA accredited Masters degree in Library Science (MLS) or Library Information Science (MLIS), with a certificate in Archival Studies preferred.

Experience Requirements:

  • Demonstrated research and writing experience
  • Experience arranging and describing archival materials preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience working with, ArchivesSpace preferred

Physical Activity/Work Environment::

The duties of this position may require standing, walking, sitting, lifting/carrying (40 lbs.), pushing/pulling (40 lbs.), handling, hearing, smelling and seeing.  Work takes place in an office environment with moderate to light noise.
