The George Eastman Museum will host 15 Years of Draft: A Retrospective of the RIT Student-Run Publication. The exhibition and the publication are organized and executed by photography students in the College of Art and Design at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).
In 2005, a group of photography students at RIT devised Draft in response to a challenge posed by their bookmaking professor, Owen Butler, to create a school-wide magazine in which students could express themselves outside of critiques and academia. For the health and safety of all of our attendees, staff, and volunteers, we have decided to postpone the 6th Nitrate Picture Show, originally scheduled for June 4–7, 2020, until June 3–6, 2021.
The Nitrate Picture Show, the world’s first festival of film conservation, returns for its sixth year. The festival features screenings of vintage nitrate prints from international archives—including the Eastman Museum’s own collection—as well as lectures, workshops, and other opportunities to experience the art and science of film preservation, from print conservation to archival projection.
