Rochester, N.Y., February 27, 2015—

George Eastman House announced that its Senior Matinee series at the Dryden Theatre will kick off on Monday, March 2, at 1:30 p.m. with a screening of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1938, 91 min., 35mm). The film will be preceded by The Sultan’s Jester (1930, 9 min., 35mm), an early Technicolor Vitaphone short that was recently restored by George Eastman House in collaboration with Warner Bros.

Admission for the Monday matinees is free for senior citizens 62 and older. All Senior Matinees will begin at 1:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted. The series runs through October.

“Beginning this March, our senior matinee screenings will be fully incorporated into our regular film calendar,” said Jurij Meden, Curator of Film Exhibitions, George Eastman House. “Cinematic classics from the George Eastman House collection will be presented in 35mm, the way they were originally screened and were meant to be seen.”
