Eastwood as Director. Eastwood’s highest-grossing film is this controversial portrait of an American Navy SEAL sniper deployed during the Iraq war. Bradley Cooper plays Chris Kyle, a Texas ranch hand spurred to enlist when he sees news coverage of the 1998 US embassy bombings. Through four tours of duty, Kyle struggles with the brutality of the job, while tracking a high-ranking al-Qaeda leader and facing off against an Olympic-level Syrian sniper out to get him. In between those tours, Kyle struggles with domestic life and reconnecting with his wife and daughter as he takes the scars of war home with him.
