Bisbee ’17

Saturday, November 16, 2019, 7:30 p.m., Dryden Theatre

(Robert Greene, US 2018, 112 min., DCP)

Rochester Premiere. In 1917, in Bisbee, Arizona, 1,200 striking miners were violently taken from their homes, banished to the desert, and left to die. In 2017, the small town set out to re-create the deportation, casting descendants of the original incident on both sides of the conflict. What transpired was one of the most amazing manifestations of empathy caught on film. Documentarian Robert Greene (Kate Plays Christine) was there to capture the events and people who took part. Beautifully shot and interspersed with historical and contemporary background interviews, this unforgettable film will stay with you long after the credits have rolled.
