The Black Swan

Sunday, March 6, 2016, 2 p.m., Dryden Theatre

(Henry King, US 1942, 87 min., DCP)

Maureen O’Hara is stunning in The Black Swan, directed by Henry King and co-starring the dashing Tyrone Power. This pirate adventure won the Academy Award for Best Cinematography (Color) and was also nominated for Best Special Effects and Best Dramatic Score. With rebellious red curls and a proud disposition, O’Hara gives a spectacular performance as Lady Margaret Denby—leaving no doubt as to why the pirate, Jamie, falls deeply in love with her. This film is part of our Dryden Kids series, along with another Maureen O’Hara favorite, The Parent Trap, which screens on March 20.
