Decalogue Five & Six

Thursday, October 13, 2016, 8 p.m., Dryden Theatre

(Dekalog, pięć & sześć, Krzysztof Kieslowski, Poland 1989, 59 & 60 min., DCP, Polish w/subtitles)

The Decalogue. Two controversial films, based on the commandments “Thou shalt not kill” and “Thou shalt not commit adultery.” In Five, a human chain linking predator to prey is calmly depicted in two killings: one by a young thug, the other by the state. Six concerns a 19-year-old voyeur’s love for an older woman, who bluntly teaches him a lesson when he finally declares himself to her.

Presented in collaboration with the Skalny Center for Polish and Central European Studies, University of Rochester.
