(Matteo Garrone, Italy 2018, 103 min., DCP, Italian w/subtitles)

Rochester Premiere. Marcello, a slight, timid dog groomer, ekes out a living while trying to see his daughter Alida as much as he can and to get along with the other business owners in his small seaside town. The entire village is terrorized by Simoncino, a drug-infused ex-boxer who rarely has his own money and is constantly in search of his next criminal scheme, which he bullies Marcello to take part in. Risking his business, his family life, and his standing in the town, while still participating in the practice of omertà, Marcello finds his breaking point and plans his own version of justice. Matteo Garrone, director of Gomorrah, continues his exploration of Italy’s criminal underbelly in this dark, gritty drama.
