Photo City

Friday, December 21, 2018, 7:30 p.m., Dryden Theatre

(John Murphy, Traolach Ó Murchú, Ireland 2018, 76 min., DCP)

Q&A. Filmed in and around Rochester and featuring interviews with residents, this documentary explores the relationship of the city to photography, from the history of Kodak through the digital age. The city has often been defined by photography, through both its commerce and its leisure time, but as the very nature of the format changes, so too must the community and its residents. The Irish filmmakers take an outsider’s look at our history, how we have changed, and how we might find a future together.

After the screening, Eastman Museum staff members Todd Gustavson and Nick Brandreth, along with museum trustee Steve Sasson—all featured in the film—will participate in a Q&A.
