(Roberta Grossman, US 2018, 95 min., English, Yiddish & Polish w/subtitles)
International Holocaust Awareness Day | L'Chaim: Celebrating Jewish Life. In November 1940, days after the Nazis sealed 450,000 Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto, a secret band of journalists, scholars, and community leaders decided to fight back. This clandestine group vowed to defeat Nazi lies and propaganda not with guns or fists but with pen and paper. For the first time, their story is told, mixing the writings of the Oyneg Shabes archive with new interviews, rarely seen footage, and stunning dramatizations with the voices of Adrien Brody, Joan Allen, and more.
Post-film Facebook Live (pre-recorded) with executive producer Nancy Spielberg, director Roberta Grossman, and author Samuel Kassow.
