The Age of Innocence

Thursday, June 29, 2017, 7:30 p.m., Dryden Theatre

(Martin Scorsese, US 1993, 139 min., 35mm)

Period Dramas. This gorgeously photographed story of unrequited love among New York’s high society during the 1870s ranks as one of Scorsese’s best works. Daniel Day-Lewis, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Winona Ryder make up the love triangle at the heart of this cinematic adaptation of Edith Wharton’s much-loved novel. It is a film that unveils the passions, fears, and desires of individuals during a time when stifling social codes governed daily life.
