(Stanley Kubrick, UK/US/Ireland 1975, 184 min., 35mm)

Museum Treasures | Period Dramas | Brand-New 35mm Print! Ryan O’Neal stars as the ambitious Irish adventurer who rises from military deserter and gambler to a life of lavish excess via his eventual marriage to the wealthy Lady Lyndon (Marisa Berenson). From Thackeray’s picaresque satire about an 18th-century rake, Kubrick fashioned one of the most visually sumptuous and meticulously crafted films of all time that won Academy Awards for cinematography, costumes, set design, and music.

Special introduction by Paolo Cherchi Usai, Senior Curator, Moving Image Department.
