Saturday, February 18, 2017, 7:30 p.m., Dryden Theatre

(Alain Resnais, France/Japan 1959, 90 min., 35mm, French and Japanese w/subtitles)

Three Films by Alain Resnais. Working from a script by Marguerite Duras, Resnais made his feature debut a modernist duet, with male and female voices intertwining over arresting images of love and war. The result: an intellectual and erotic masterpiece. Awarded the International Critics’ Prize at Cannes, Hiroshima Mon Amour caused a sensation for its scenes of sexual intimacy and its poignant treatment of doomed romance.
