James Card Program #1: The Pioneers (16mm, 35mm, Digital)

The first lecture program presented at the Dryden on the second weekend of March, 1951 was dedicated to the precursors of cinema and the medium’s first decade, demonstrating how the discovery of simulated motion developed and created the art of the 21st century. Screening films from Auguste and Louis Lumiere, Georges Melies, Thomas Edison, James Williamson, and more, experience the very beginnings of motion pictures more than 130 years ago.
