King of Jazz

Tuesday, December 13, 2016, 8 p.m., Dryden Theatre

(John Murray Anderson, US 1930, 100 min., DCP)

New Restoration. King of Jazz presents diverse variety acts that are funny, glamorous, and representative of the musical theatre of the Jazz Age. The film, really a vehicle for the very talented Paul Whiteman, also stars Bing Crosby, Laura La Plante, and the music of George Gershwin. Entirely two-color Technicolor, King of Jazz was selected for preservation by the Library of Congress in 2013. Thanks to recognition of its historical significance, we are now able to present you with a new digitally restored version.
