(Ernst Lubitsch, US 1925, 120 min., DCP)
The orphaned Lady Margaret Windermere (May McAvoy) has married Lord Windermere (Bert Lytell) but still attracts suitors, including Lord Darlington (Ronald Colman). Meanwhile, Lord Windermere has received a letter from the mysterious Mrs. Erlynne (Irene Rich), who asks him to see her on an urgent matter. Erlynne reveals herself as Margaret’s mother and asks the Lord to support her and re-introduce her to society to avoid embarrassment for his wife. As Margaret becomes jealous of the attention her husband pays to Erlynne, her resistance to Darlington erodes.
