(Vincent Sherman, US 1947, 109 min., 16mm)
When Bob Hunter (Zachary Scott) returns from a business trip, he is confronted with a crime scene at his house. His wife, Chris (Ann Sheridan), was attacked after returning from a party thrown by her cousin Paula (Eve Arden) to celebrate her divorce. In self-defense, Chris had stabbed and killed a man who had broken into their home. When the victim turns out to be Michael Tanner, a poor sculptor with no criminal record, the investigation into the attack begins to unravel unexpected revelations.
Post-screening discussion with Curator of Film Exhibitions Jared Case.
