Rochester residents Randi and Nic Minetor have traveled all over the country in their quest to see all 50 states, all 412 national park areas, and more than 900 species of birds. Combined, they have written (Randi) and photographically illustrated (Nic) more than 35 publications—books on national parks and historic cities, hiking guides, and guidebooks to birds, trees, and wildflowers. They will share their insiders’ view of the national parks, including many of the 306 they have visited to date.
Over a professional life spanning seven decades, Edward Steichen (1879–1973) established himself as one of the most important figures in the history of photography. What is less known is that for much of that time, Steichen devoted himself to the nurturing of plants and gardens, an activity that sustained him and through which he developed ardently held beliefs regarding the relationship of art, nature, and creativity.
