Ahndraya Parlato is an artist and writer who combines photography and writing to explore psychology, fantasy, and perception. Throughout her career, she has repeatedly engaged with the notion of “reality” and various gendered social constructs. Parlato has a bachelor's degree from Bard College and a master's degree from California College of the Arts. She has published four books: TIME TO KILL, (MACK Books, 2026), Who Is Changed and Who Is Dead, (MACK Books, 2021), A Spectacle and Nothing Strange, (Kehrer Verlag, 2016), and East of the Sun, West of the Moon, (a collaboration with Gregory Halpern, Études Books, 2014). Parlato has been awarded grants from Light Work, the New York Foundation for the Arts, The Joy of Giving Something Foundation, and is a 2024 Guggenheim Foundation Fellow. Ahndraya is currently an Assistant Professor at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
There will be a book signing after the lecture. And Parlato's exhibition Ahndraya Parlato: TIME TO KILL, currently on display in the Project Gallery, will be open for viewing.
