Fantastic Planet

Sunday, October 2, 2016, 2 p.m., Dryden Theatre

(La planète sauvage, René Laloux, France/Czechoslovakia 1973, 72 min., French w/subtitles)

Dryden Kids. On the planet Ygam, ruled by the gigantic blue Draags, humanlike creatures named the Oms are the enslaved pets of the Draag children. When the Draags decide to exterminate all the Oms, the little people fight back. This politically and socially aware psychedelic animated sci-fi cult classic evokes both Gulliver’s Travels and Planet of the Apes, and the imagination invested in the surreal creatures, music and sound design, and eerie landscapes is immense and unforgettable.
