To celebrate the Juneteenth holiday, the George Eastman Museum will open its doors free of charge for the day. In addition, the Dryden Theatre will host two free afternoon screenings: the Rochester Premiere of the documentary The Throwaways, (Ira McKinley, Bhawin Suchak, 2013,) at 1 p.m. and the wonderful concert film Amazing Grace (Sydney Pollack, Alan Elliott, 2018) at 3:30 p.m. Join us for free entertainment at the Dryden!

Amazing Grace
Juneteenth Free Screenings Amazing Grace follows Aretha Franklin as she records her 1972 live gospel album of the same name at the New Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles. Accompanied by the Southern California Community Choir, directed by Alexander Hamilton, as well as James Cleveland, Cornell Dupree, Bernard Purdie, Chuck Rainer, and Poncho Morales, Franklin plays to a primarily African American audience.
