Mystic River

In this film based on Dennis Lehane’s incendiary novel, Jimmy Markum (Sean Penn) is an ex-con mini-mart owner who lives in his old Boston neighborhood, bitter at the system that put him away and the time and wife that he has lost forever. But when his nineteen-year-old daughter goes missing, and childhood friends Dave (Tim Robbins) and policeman Sean (Kevin Bacon) are not moving fast enough, Jimmy undertakes his own investigation. His pursuit leads to consequences that echo a fateful day 25 years before.
