Labor Film Series | Rochester Premiere. Our tribute to Ken Loach continues with his latest feature film. Sorry We Missed You picks up where I, Daniel Blake left off exploring workers’ lives under the stress of late-stage capitalism. Desperate for work, family man Ricky Turner applies to be a “franchised” delivery man, under a restrictive and punitive contract to an Amazon-like supply company. Late deliveries, car trouble, and long hours mount as Ricky and his wife are pulled in different directions. The film premiered at Cannes earlier this year, and the Dryden is one of the first American theaters to bring this film to audiences.

Labor Film Series 2019

For thirty years, the George Eastman Museum and the Rochester Labor Council have collaborated to present the Rochester Labor Film Series. Over the decades, this series has brought many labor issues to the fore through both classic cinema and new releases from around the world. In keeping with this tradition, the Dryden Theatre presents the film that inspired the series (The Killing Floor, Bill Duke, 1985) in tandem with classic and timely European releases that focus on unions, race, rural labor, and the inevitable bottom line and how it affects workers and labor relations the world over.
