(Leo Hurwitz, US 1966, 89 min., 16mm)

Leo Hurwitz | World Premiere. The Sun and Richard Lippold, an episode of the series USA Artists and the last film Hurwitz directed for National Educational Television, illuminates Lippold’s sculpture The Sun at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and how the play of sunlight contributes to the artist’s creative output. In Search of Hart Crane allows Hurwitz and Crane biographer John Unterecker to explore Crane’s poetry and life through interviews with the people who knew him best—including painters Charmion von Wiegand and Margaret (Peggy) Baird (who was engaged to Crane at the time of his death), authors Waldo Frank and Malcolm Cowley, and architect William Lescaze.
