Voyages and Discoveries. “Treasure the experience; dreams fade when you wake up.” A dazzling body-swap romance filled with pathos, longing, and separation, this recent anime is visually stunning, at once very simple and extremely complex, with charming characterizations and beautiful imagery. Taki and Mitsuha are Japanese students in different locations, who find that from time to time they wake up having swapped bodies. As they try to unravel why this is happening, they start leaving messages and instructions for each other, resulting in a bizarre, intense, and unique friendship—a literal example of looking at the world with “new eyes.” Gradually, the mystery behind their connection becomes more and more complex.
