POSTPONED—15 Years of Draft: A Retrospective of the RIT Student-Run Publication

April 4–19, 2020, Potter Peristyle

The George Eastman Museum will host 15 Years of Draft: A Retrospective of the RIT Student-Run Publication. The exhibition and the publication are organized and executed by photography students in the College of Art and Design at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).

In 2005, a group of photography students at RIT devised Draft in response to a challenge posed by their bookmaking professor, Owen Butler, to create a school-wide magazine in which students could express themselves outside of critiques and academia. In the past fifteen years, the student-run publication has grown from a stapled packet of images to a photographic magazine and exhibition; recently, it has also incorporated moving media and featured work from college and university students across New York State.

Today, Draft’s initial mission remains: to create a platform for emerging artists to become a part of something bigger than themselves.

Organized by Draft magazine with support from the Rochester Institute of Technology and the RIT Alumni Association. For more information, visit draftmags.com and follow @draftmags on Instagram.
