(Yuval Delshad, Israel 2015, 91 min., Hebrew/Persian (Farsi) w/subtitles)
Rochester International Jewish Film Festival. This first Persian-language film shot in Israel is a wise, sensitive drama about a profound immigrant experience and a universal story of intergenerational tension. Yitzhak proudly runs the turkey farm his father built with his own two hands after they emigrated from Iran to Israel. When his son Moti turns thirteen, Yitzhak teaches him the trade, expecting him to take over the business and continue the proud family tradition. Young Moti is more interested in reconstructing old cars and trucks and bringing them back to life, a trade for which he obviously has a tremendous talent. But for Yitzhak, this is an insult to the values he holds most dear.
