All That Jazz

Veteran director and choreographer Bob Fosse (Sweet Charity, Cabaret) broke convention with a film that mixes genres and brings the classic musical into the hospital (or vice versa). In a narrative similar to Federico Fellini’s 8 ½, he tells the semi-autobiographical story of a chain-smoking and womanizing Broadway choreographer taking on more than his mortal body can take with finishing a film and starting a new show, all while dealing with romantic and familial relationships past and present. Roy Scheider takes on the thinly-veiled Fosse role while Fosse’s former lover Ann Reinking plays his girlfriend.

The screening will be introduced by preservationist Schawn Belston, who worked on the restoration, and will be followed by a Q&A with Belston and Curator of Film Exhibitions Jared Case.
