Big

Saturday, June 11, 2022, 7:30 p.m., Dryden Theatre

(Penny Marshall, US 1988, 104 min., DCP)

While trying to impress his crush, twelve-year-old Josh Baskin is told he is too short for a carnival ride called the Super Loops. Disgruntled, he inserts a coin into an antique fortune-teller machine called Zoltar and makes a wish to be “big.” Despite being unplugged, the machine dispenses a card stating, “Your wish is granted.” Thinking nothing of it, Josh goes to sleep only to awaken as a full-grown adult (Tom Hanks). Josh and his childhood friend Billy hatch a plan to reverse his wish. While they search for the Zoltar machine, they enjoy life in New York City, where Josh rents a place and finds a job at MacMillan Toy Company. There he must navigate the corporate world while keeping his identity a secret.
