(Marcel Bluwal, France 1963, 88 min., 16mm, Dubbed in English)
This French farce takes on the working world as Jean-Claude Brialy plays Paul, an ambitious young executive at a travel agency on the Champs-Élysées. Paul has done everything right to advance his career, including proposing to the boss’s daughter. But when he discovers that he may not be chosen for promotion, he hatches a plan to create more opportunities by murdering one of the executives above him. As the situation continues to slip out of his control, and more bodies start dropping, Paul is forced to try to mitigate the damage while taking advantage of every opportunity he can. The set design of the company highlights the vertical nature of advancement in a modern, glass-filled structure.
