The Cradle Snatchers
(Howard Hawks, US 1927, 59 min., 35mm)
From the hit comic stage play (produced in Rochester with Bette Davis in the cast), three wives are tired of their husbands consorting with flappers. They plan revenge by convincing three college students to flirt with them at a party. But when the husbands show up with their girlfriends in tow, the situation gets complicated.
Double Whoopee
(Lewis R. Foster, US 1929, 20 min., 16mm)
Preceded by Double Whoopee, in which Laurel and Hardy find themselves mistaken for a Prince and a Prime Minister before assuming their jobs in a swank hotel as a bellman and footman. Features an early appearance by an 18-year-old Jean Harlow and Hans Joby (Erich von Stroheim’s double in several films) sending up the actor/director’s nuances and mannerisms.
Live piano accompaniment by Dr. Philip Carli.
