Dryden Roundtable: The Complete Kubrick

Saturday, April 12, 2025, 2 p.m., Dryden Theatre

Despite Stanley Kubrick’s nearly five-decade career in film, his diverse filmography is relatively small. Still, it can be argued that he directed the best interpretation of several different genres: film noir, the war film, the epic, science fiction, and the horror film. Coinciding with The Dryden’s retrospective of his work, this panel will track his history from news photography to the reclusive cinematic genius of his later years. Joining Curator of Film Exhibitions will be Jack Beck (Rochester Institute of Technology),  Johannes Bockwoldt (SUNY Geneseo), Carter Soles (SUNY Brockport), and Deborah Sutherland (St. John Fisher University) to talk about the themes in his work, his career inside and outside Hollywood, his pioneering filmic techniques, and the lasting impact of his films, individually and as a whole.

Free Admission for all.
