A documentary about the “American Dream,” Family Business focuses on a single family in Muncie, Indiana. Howie Snyder has seemingly done everything right. After serving his country in the US Marine Corps, he returns home to his wife and nine children hoping to start his own business, purchasing a franchise in the Shakey’s Pizza chain. The entire family works hard and invests long hours in the business while trying to stay afloat on poor receipts and dealing with poor treatment from the franchise. For a family stuck in the middle, there is only one place to turn: to each other.
Cinematographer and director Tom Hurwitz, who will be the commencement speaker for the 25th graduation of the L. Jeffrey Selznick School of Film Preservation, will provide a special introduction.
