Forgotten Faces (1928)

A melodrama with a criminal twist, this film features an early supporting performance by William Powell. “Heliotrope” Harry Harlow (Clive Brook) returns from a robbery only to find his wife in bed with another man. After shooting the man, he takes their daughter and deposits her on the doorstep of a wealthy couple and asks his partner, Froggy (Powell), to look out for her before turning himself in to the authorities. Having fallen on hard times, his wife, Lilly (Olga Baclanova), discovers where the girl has been and details her plans to see the child to Harry. On parole, Harry takes the place of the daughter’s butler to ensure her protection.
