The German Factory explores the incident at the ThyssenKrupp steel factory on December 6, 2007, that killed seven workers—a fatal event that could have been avoided if security norms and quality control processes had been followed. The documentary digs into the causes, still partly unknown, while actors Valeria Golino, Silvio Orlando, Luca Lionello, Monica Guerritore, and Rosalia Porcaro act as relatives of the victims, reenacting the hours before the tragedy struck.

Double Bill | Director in Person | US Premiere. Now in their fifties, Gil, Vinz, and Saro have known each other since childhood. Life has made them different from each other, however. Gil is a wealthy real-estate builder and Saro is a police officer in Turin, while Vinz is a doctor in southern Italy. When Gil’s son, an upperclass student, stabs a fellow classmate during a fight, Saro gets back to Turin to assist Gil. The ensuing reunion between the three friends sets off a chain of unexpected events.
Director Mimmo Calopresti will be present at this double-feature screening. Short intermission between the films.
