(Norman Taurog, US 1943, 99 min., 35mm)
Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland are together again in this MGM production featuring melodies by George and Ira Gershwin. Rooney, the son of a wealthy newspaperman, is sent away to a boarding school where he falls for Garland, who happens to be the granddaughter of the dean. When the school is in danger of closing, the two pair up in song and dance to try and save the institution. The film features splendid choreography by Charles Walters and Busby Berkeley, as well as a musical highlight with Rooney himself playing the piano alongside the Tommy Dorsey band.
