(Alexander Hall, US 1941, 94 min., 35mm)

Resolution #5: Get a whole new body. Heaven has made a mistake. Boxer, saxophone player, and amateur pilot Joe Pendleton (Robert Montgomery) crashes his plane on the way to a match in New York City. But when his soul and its escort, Messenger 7013 (Edward Everett Horton), arrive in heaven they discover that the messenger plucked him out of his body fifty years too early. Since Joe’s body has already been cremated, the celestial Mr. Jordan (Claude Rains) offers Joe a body soon to be vacated, the millionaire Bruce Farnsworth, who is about to be murdered. In addition to dealing with the fallout of the attempted murder, Joe also falls in love with Bette Logan (Evelyn Keyes), but the situation may not be permanent . . .
